BASE, BASIS, FOUNDATIONBase чаще всего употребляется в буквальном значении 'нижняя опорная часть, основание': base of a triangle, base of a pyramid, base of a pillar, base of a tree, base of a mountain, base of a monument. Basis выступает преимущественно в метафорическом значении 'основа, базис' в сочетании с отвлеченными существительными: basis of confidence, basis of friendship, basis of philosophy, basis for a belief, basis for discussion.
